Digital bubble wrap versus the real thing

Real bubble wrap has one obvious problem: it runs out. A sheet gives you a few good minutes and then it is a flat piece of plastic in the bin.

A bubble wrap popping game does not run out, and it can do things a sheet cannot. In Popper the bubbles are arranged into a picture — a heart, a star, a diamond — so clearing them finishes something rather than just flattening a rectangle.

What the real thing still wins on is the feel, which is why the digital version leans on sound and a small vibration on each tap to stand in for the physical snap.

The practical difference is that you always have your phone with you. Fifty shapes' worth of popping fits in a pocket, makes no mess, and does not need buying again.
